Rudy’s Battles Camillus and Onondaga in B Mite Action

OSWEGO, New York – The Rudy’s B Mite squad split a pair of games with Camillus recently, and lost a tough matchup against Onondaga in Oswego Minor Hockey action.

In the first game with Camillus on neutral ice in Skaneateles, the Rudy’s B Mites lost a tough game 7-2. The Oswego team jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on two goals by Andrew Noyes, and assists by Spencer Stepien and Cammi Ahern. The Camillus team battled back, however, scoring seven unanswered goals to capture the win. Nick Burnett had 14 saves in the loss.

The Camillus team traveled to the Cullinan Ice Rink in Oswego the following weekend, and the Rudy’s B Mites game out playing hard from the start and captured a lopsided 12-1 win.

“Our kids came out and played really hard against Camillus on our home ice,” said Assistant Coach Kevin Ahern. “They played aggressive throughout the game, and the action was almost entirely in our opponent’s end of the ice.”

According to Ahern, the team was led by a balanced scoring attack that included: Mark Jones 4 goals and 3 assists, Cammi Ahern 3 goals and 4 assists, Andrew Noyes 3 goals and 2 assists, Lucas Shepardson 1 goal and 2 assists, Anthony DiBlasi 1 goal and 3 assists, Spencer Stepien 3 assists, Evan Giocondo 3 assists, Nick Burnett 2 assists, and Bryson Bush 1 assist.
Rudy’s Goalie Tyler Wallace recorded six saves in the win.

In a tough matchup against Onondaga the following day, the Rudy’s squad lost 6-1, but again played tough despite the outcome.

“I am proud of our team,” said Head Coach Mark Fierro. “They battled a strong group of players on the Onondaga team, but were still aggressive and worked hard throughout.”

Scoring for Rudy’s was Andrew Noyes off an assist by Bryson Bush.

Tyler Wallace, the Rudy’s net minder, had 25 saves against Onondaga.

According to Fierro, the team’s strong efforts were led by Jones, Noyes, Ahern, Stepien, Bush, Burnett, Wallace, DiBlasi, Shepardson, Giocondo, Isaiah Raby, Julia Roman, and Katie Fierro.
