The Sandy Creek High School Comets defeated the Dolgeville Blue Devils 28 – 21 amidst fog and damp conditions at General Brown High School on October 19 in round one of the Section III Class D football tournament.

A large crowd turned out to cheer the Comets on to victory.
The game was moved to General Brown High School’s turf field due to poor grass field conditions at Sandy Creek.
Sandy Creek is now 8 – 0 for the season, its best record since 1996.
Athletic Director and Football Coach Mike Stevens, who has been coaching for 23 seasons, 17 with the football program at Sandy Creek, had this to say about his squad, “This group of young men truly is a ‘team.’ They have been a pleasure to work with this season and I am grateful to be a part of this special season with them. I have been trying for 30 years to win the Sandy Creek football team, school, and community a Section III Championship in football. I hope this is the team to do it.”

In round two, Sandy Creek will face Weedsport on Friday, October 26 with kickoff at 7 p.m. at the Fulton High School Sports Complex.
Weedsport, coached by Greg Michaels, boasts a 7 – 1 record on the season.
Also on Friday, Westmoreland and West Canada Valley will vie for finals at Utica Proctor.
The winners will meet in the finals of the Section III Class D tournament in the Carrier Dome on November 2 beginning at 5 p.m.
