Shepard Goes For 1st DIRTcar Big Block Modified Title Friday At Brewerton Speedway

BREWERTON, NY…Matt Sheppard is closing in on his first ever DIRTcar Big Block Modified Track Championship at Brewerton Speedway. This Friday, September 4 at the D-shaped Dirt Demon, Sheppard will look for another strong finish to claim his first ever title at the Oswego County facility. Lurking in the second position is Billy Decker, a four-time Track Champion at the Ultimate Drivers Track. Pat Ward is currently third in the rankings with the Track Championship still in the veteran drivers reach. Race time this Friday on Windstream Communications Night is set for 7:30 p.m.

Competition is sure to be intense for the 35-lap DIRTcar Big Block Modified feature race this Friday night. Ryan Phelps, Alan Johnson, Jimmy Phelps, Chuck Bower, Jim Witko, Kevin Bates, Chad Phelps, Larry Wight, Vinnie Vitale, Mike Mahaney and Pat O’Brien will all look to improve on the season rankings with a top finish this Friday night. While Sheppard will look for a top outing in hopes of adding his name to the prestigious Brewerton Speedway DIRTcar Big Block Modified Track Champions list which includes Bob McCreadie, Alan Johnson, Gary Tomkins, Decker and Bower.

Kevan Cook appears headed to the 2009 Xtreme Auto Recovery IMCA Modified Track Championship at Brewerton Speedway. Cook has secured nine feature race wins this season; with Rob Keller the only other multiple event winner with five feature race triumphs. Doug Williams and Tim Devendorf continue to battle it out for the 2009 Beaver River Distribution ESDCA Mod Lite Track Title at Brewerton Speedway. Two point races remain for the Mod Lite class with the special World of Outlaws Late Model date on September 2, serving as another race date for the popular class.

Chuck Powelczyk has built up his point lead in the Tired Iron Repair Four Cylinder Super Stock class. Stephen Denton is still in contention, however, 36 points behind the leader. Bruce Unger continues to lead the Gladiator point standings, with Josh Herbert only 30 points behind in the second position. And fans don’t forget you will be able to take to the track this Friday night in the One on One Spectator Races. Competitors will need a pit pass, a helmet and street legal vehicle to participate in the elimination style event.
