Swimming and Diving Moves Up Standings At Fredonia Invitational

The Oswego State men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams each moved up one place in the standings after the second day of the Fredonia Invitational. The men’s squad moved up to 294 points for third place behind Penn State-Behrend (527) and Baldwin-Wallace (334). The women’s team climbed to 404 points to sit in second place behind Fredonia, which has 531 points. The meet concludes on Sunday.

Kyle Lounsberry (Jr., Nichols, N.Y.) was part of each of the three events that finished in the top five on the men’s side. Individually, he took third place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.58. As a member of the 200 freestyle relay with Nick Dupree (So., Vestal, N.Y.), Kyle Hoag (So., Dansville, N.Y.), and Nick Masia (Sr., Pine City, N.Y.), they earned fifth after touching the wall in 1:31.61. Adam Weber (Fr., Clarence, N.Y.), Lounsberry, Eric Dlugolecki (Sr., Liverpool, N.Y.), and Masia also posted a fourth-place result in the 800 freestyle relay (7:41.80).

Senior Jenny VanEtten (Ravena, N.Y.) led the charge for the women as she turned in two individual first-place finishes and was a member of a first place relay. She won the 200 IM (2:16.65) and the 200 backstroke (2:15.30), and swam the first leg of the 800 freestyle relay that won with a time of 8:16.67. Other members of the relay included Marianne Munson (Sr., Painted Post, N.Y.), Jackie Michalski (Sr., Chenango Forks, N.Y.), and Nikki Dean (Jr., Lansing, N.Y.).

Dean also turned in a first-place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:24.60) followed by Michalski in second with a result of 5:31.51. Munson added a second place result in the 200 butterfly after touching the wall in 2:25.85, while Delia Reed (So., Great Neck, N.Y.) earned fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.91). The 200 freestyle relay consisting of Emily Plummer (Fr., Horseheads, N.Y.), Molly Heagerty (So., Fulton, N.Y.), Brittany O’Dea (Fr., Williamsville, N.Y.), and Kelly Williams (Sr., Ballston Spa, N.Y.) took third with a time of 1:45.57.
