OSWEGO, New York – The Folds of Honor Golf Tournament, scheduled for this upcoming Monday, September 28th at the Oswego Country Club received a significant contribution this past week from Wayne Drugs and Oswego-native and golf professional David Branshaw.

According to the Oswego Country Club’s Head Golf Professional Jon Fowler, they received a $2,500 donation from Bob Branshaw, owner of Wayne Drugs, and an additional $2,500 from his son, David, a golf professional presently on the Nationwide Tour.

“We are extremely grateful to Wayne Drugs, the Branshaw family, and David, for their considerable support of the Folds of Honor event scheduled for Monday,” said Fowler. “They have been a strong part of this community for years, and their contribution to this wonderful cause and event is tremendous.”

The inaugural tournament will benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation, a charitable organization with a mission to empower deserving military families with educational support and opportunities.  They provide educational scholarships to the spouses and children of service members disabled or killed as a result of military service.

“David has a lot of fans in this community and we’re proud of his golfing efforts as he continues to work hard to once again attain his PGA tour status,” Fowler added. “He’s a hero to so many, and this outreach shows yet again the character he maintains and shares with his father, Bob, mother, Sue, and his siblings.”

According to the Bob Branshaw the Folds of Honor Foundation and the tournament was important to him and his family.

“Our family has always been strong supporters of the military men and women in this country, and the commitment and honor they represent,” he said. “I served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam conflict, and understood the hardships that came with a military family.

“This foundation directly benefits this country’s families and their children who are affected by hardships, whether it be through the loss of a spouse/parent, or disability.”

Registration for the four-person captain-n-crew tournament starts at 10:30 a.m. and a shotgun start begins at Noon. The cost is $70 per person or $280 per team, and the field is limited to 36 teams. Persons interested in participating should sign up immediately at the Pro Shop or call (315) 343-1941.
