More Mosquitoes Test Positive for EEE in Oswego County; Aerial Spraying Next Week

EEE Found In Bird-Biting MosquitoesOswego County Public Health Director Dr. Dennis Norfleet announced today that a total of eight pools of mosquitoes collected near the village of Central Square and the Toad Harbor Swamp area have tested positive for Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE).

“The virus activity is developing into a situation very similar to what we had in 2009 when we had a case of human EEE in Oswego County,” said Dr. Norfleet.

Fulton to Press its Hospital Property Claim in Bankruptcy Court

Oswego Health wanted the city of Fulton to simply give up any right it might have to the land beneath the former Lee Memorial Hospital.  Citizens at a public meeting last week said the city should force Oswego Health to buy the land.

The city might just be splitting the difference with its decision Monday night to ask a bankruptcy court judge to make the land issue part of Lee Memorial’s bankruptcy proceeding.
