06/30/2011 – ‘What’s Your Story’ Memoir Writing Workshop

On Thursday, June 30th, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, Fulton Public Library will host a memoir-writing workshop entitled What’s Your Story? facilitated by Schenectady fiction writer, Susannah Risley. The workshop is designed to help writers bring family stories to the page. Risley uses an exercise to help participants recall early memories. The group will then explore writing techniques for making these memories come alive through the use of vivid, descriptive language.

The workshop is interactive, supportive and fun.  It will be helpful in filling in stories from the family tree, or recounting personal experiences. Risley will give a short reading of her work at the start of the workshop.

Susannah Risley has published fiction in Redbook and Mademoiselle magazines and other venues. She has fifteen years experience teaching writing workshops in libraries, schools, prisons, senior centers and historical societies.

New and seasoned writers are welcome to attend this workshop. It is free and open to the public.  For more information on the workshop, please call the library at 592-5159.

This event was funded in part by Poets & Writers, Inc. with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency missing or outdated ad config
