As of 7:15 p.m., Oswego Police have cleared the scene on East Utica Street and have reopened that stretch of road for regular traffic flow.
The victim remains in Upstate Medical University Hospital, OPD told Oswego County Today.
The shooting suspect has been released from the Oswego Hospital and is currently being held at the Oswego Police Department as the investigation continues., they added.
Oswego Police anticipate an updated release of information on Saturday (10/27/18) afternoon.

The names of the victim and alleged shooter have not been
released as of 6PM

There are unconfirmed reports that residents in the area
heard about 5 gunshots. Police report the victim was hit once.

City police and other law enforcement agencies continue to
investigate.

Authorities will provide an update later tonight “once the
scene is cleared and the road is reopened but that will be
about all for tonight,” Police Chief Tory DeCaire said.

So far there hasn’t been any word whether charges have been filed.

Oswego Police continue to investigate a possible shooting on East Utica Street between East 10th and Duer streets in the city of Oswego.

Upon arrival, police located the victim, a 34-year-old man, who had an apparent gunshot wound to the abdomen and has since been transported to Upstate Hospital in Syracuse.

Oswego Police also identified the suspected shooter, a 58-year-old man, who has been taken to Oswego Hospital for evaluation.

Preliminary investigation has indicated that the two males did not know each other prior to this incident which allegedly began as a traffic related dispute which then escalated into a physical confrontation on East Utica Street near Duer Street resulting in one subject being shot at least once in the abdomen.

The investigation is on-going and East Utica Street between East 10th and East Ninth streets remains closed to traffic as the investigation continues.

The Oswego Police Department is asking that motorists use alternative routes.

OSWEGO – At approximately 1:43 p.m. today (Oct. 26) Oswego Police responded to a possible shooting on East Utica Street between East 10th and Duer Street in the city of Oswego.

Upon arrival, both the victim and the suspect were on scene.

The suspect has been taken into custody.

There is no longer any threat to the public, police said.

Both the victim and the suspect have been transported by ambulance to area hospitals for evaluation.

The victim did appear to have a gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to the police report.

The investigation is on-going and East Utica Street between East 10th and East Ninth streets are closed to traffic as the investigation continues.
