BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Oswego State men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams qualified for four ECAC Championship events, broke a school record and posted numerous SUNYAC-qualifying results at the Coach P Open hosted by Moravian College on Saturday.
Matt Wagenhauser (So., Greenlawn, N.Y.) led the charge when he shattered his own school record in the 400-meter dash by more than six-tenths of a second when he finished third with a time of 49.04 seconds to qualify for the ECAC Championships. Wagenhauser’s previous best in the event was 49.67 seconds. He ran the first leg of the 4×400 relay that clocked a time of 3:23.51 for a third-place result. Ryan Brennan (Jr., Syracuse, N.Y.), Nick Reinsdorf (So., Niverville, N.Y.) and Andrew Baldwin (Jr., Fulton, N.Y.) were members of the ECAC-qualifying relay.
Baldwin also turned in a SUNYAC-qualifying time of 50.74 seconds to finish 13th in the 400-meter dash, while Brennan posted a time of 59.77 seconds in the 400 hurdles.
Katie Bott (Jr., Camillus, N.Y.) garnered second-place honors in the 800 meters with an ECAC-qualifying time of 2:19.00, and also finished 14th in the 400-meter dash (1:00.60). Marissa Pariseau (So., Somerset, Mass.) registered the other ECAC-qualifying result, as she tied for ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.68.
Brittany DalCais (So., Hewitt, N.J.) tied for third in the pole vault after clearing a height of 10 feet, 11 3/4 inches (3.35m), while Meghan Murphy (So., Dix Hills, N.Y.) crossed the finish line ninth in the 5,000 meters (19:29.16) and Emily Wild (Jr., Victor, N.Y.) tied for 15th in the high jump with a mark of 1.47 meters.
The women’s 4×400 relay of Kristen Harrigan (So., Buffalo, N.Y.), DalCais, Pariseau and Bott placed sixth with a time of 4:12.81.
Ben Sweet (Sr., Pine Bush, N.Y.) registered a strong showing in the 1,500 and 800 meters after placing fifth (4:04.89) and 16th (1:59.47), respectively.
Chris Bridgewater (So., Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished 11th in the triple jump with a leap of 42 feet, 4 3/4 inches (12.92m), while Joshuwa Maiolo (So., Rome, N.Y.) took 12th in the triple jump (42 feet, 2 inches; 12.85m) and 16th in the long jump (20 feet, 9 inches; 6.32m).
The Lakers had two solid showings in the women’s 1,500 meters when Christina Sakowski (Jr., Cicero, N.Y.) and Sarah Popovitch (So., Clermont, N.Y.) finished 10th and 11th out of 61 runners. Sakowski crossed the finish line with a time of 5:05.81, while Popovitch posted a time of 5:06.81.
Other SUNYAC-qualifying results included Harrigan in the 200-meter dash (27.79) and Katie Laris (Fr., Clay, N.Y.) in the 800 when she won her heat with a time of 2:28.85.
Oswego State will compete at the Cortland Classic next Friday and Saturday.
