Welcome Back Tobacco Free Network!

I was pleased to see the article on September 24th about the Tobacco Free Network of Oswego County regaining its funding after losing it for a year. Tobacco use is still the leading cause of preventable death in the United States and I look forward to working with Abby Jenkins and the Network to reduce the impact of tobacco marketing on the young people in Cayuga County.
One place that the Tobacco Free Network and Reality Check will be working to reduce tobacco marketing is in the Retail Environment. Tobacco Companies spend most of their advertising money in the retail environment especially in convenience stores, where 75% of teenagers shop at least once a week.
With the help of local community members and the Tobacco Free Network we hope to continue to reduce teen smoking rates across New York State.
