Win some white gold this fall and help support literacy

OSWEGO, NY – Literacy Volunteers is holding its first-ever raffle that includes three exciting, warm and wonderful prizes.

Grand prize is a set of four Disney Park-Hopper Passes good for one day at Disney theme parks in Orlando, Fla. Second prize is a pair of emerald earrings in settings of white gold, donated by Bridge Street Jewelers and valued at $200. Third prize is a multicolored, handmade full-sized quilt whose maker has chosen to remain anonymous.

Raffle tickets go on sale at Literacy Volunteers’ eighth annual Diane Falise Memorial Scrabble Fest on Friday at the Oswego Elks Lodge. Drawing for all prizes takes place on Oct. 30 at noon at Oswego County Opportunities’ main office, 239 Oneida St., Fulton.

You must be at least 18 to buy raffle tickets.

Cost is $5 each or five for $20. Tickets will be on sale at OCO’s main office and at its Midtown Plaza location, starting Sept. 22.

Last-minute registrations are still being accepted for Scrabble Fest. Entry fee is $100 per team and includes light refreshments.

The cost for guests who wish to support Literacy Volunteers, but not compete in the event, is $15 and includes light refreshments.

There will be a cash bar.

All proceeds from will benefit Literacy Volunteers.

Operating under the auspices of OCO, Literacy Volunteers provides confidential tutoring services at no cost to the student.

Tutoring includes basic literacy (reading and writing), English literacy to improve English speaking, reading and writing skills, and some simple math and computer skills.

Volunteers have been providing Literacy tutoring in Oswego County for 50 years.
