Writer Says Granby Power Surge Is National Grid’s Responsibility

To the Editor

Concerning your News Story on the POWER SURGE, on the Jones Rd. in the Town of Granby:

This surge was powerful enough to burn out meters, as well as costing their CUSTOMERS in some cases thousands of dollars in personal belongings. It’s somewhat disturbing but not surprising that National Grid  has taken the position that there is no negligence on their part, when in fact there are steps they can take to prevent this type of powerful surge as well as protecting their customers. National Grid needs to stand up to the pump and accept the fact that they are responsible, instead of trying to negate their responsibility, and make their customers whole.
