OSWEGO, NY – Family and friends gathered recently at campsite #61 at Moffitt Beach in Speculator, NY, to celebrate 50 years of marriage for Jeanne (Hadlow) and Bob Coad.
In 1961, Jeanne and Bob met at the popular Adirondack destination on campsite #61, while Jeanne was camping with her family, and Bob was visiting with friends.
And, while Jeanne and Bob grew up about three blocks from each other in their hometown of Oswego, NY, they had never met until that day at Moffitt Beach.
As it turns out, it was a meeting that would begin a longstanding commitment between a perfect couple.
After dating for five years, they were married in 1966 and celebrated their 50-year milestone this past July 2 with a renewal of their vows at site #61 and Hawaiian-style luau afterwards.
Jeanne and Bob were joined in celebration by their son, Jeff and his wife, Johnna; daughter, Kelly; and their grandson, Tanner; as well as numerous other family members and close friends for the weekend-long celebration, held earlier this month.
They have never missed a summer of camping at Moffitt Beach since 1966 and celebrate their anniversary each year at their favorite destination, and make a point every year to walk up to site #61 to reflect on their lifetime of memories.
