The Oswego Children’s Theater’s “Rip Van Winkle” and “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” True Family Entertainment

The Oswego Children’s Theater’s next production, a twin bill of “Rip Van Winkle” and “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” features family style entertainment in two ways.

The pair of plays was specifically written by the author to be performed for youthful audiences. The plays were adapted for the stage by the late Oswego State Theater Professor Emeritus Rosemary Nesbitt as part of a series of works presented biannually under her direction, designed to be performed for children and in many cases by children.

Family values are fostered by this particular presentation of “Rip Van Winkle” and “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” as there are many families directly involved in the actual production of the plays. Members of the Mosher family are especially featured in the show including. Kelly Mosher as director and Costume designer, Amanda Mosher as choreographer and Make up designer and Wayne and Erik Mosher performing on stage.

Other families with multiple members involved with the production include the Sciacca family, with dad Rick, and daughters Sarina, and Gianna and son Salvator; the.Larkin family, with dad Bob, and daughter Cassidee; the Bandla family, with brothers, Will and Riley, and sister Hayley; and the Callahan family, with dad Mike, and sons Aaron and Nolan.

Still other families involved include mother and daughters Tammy Pospesel, with T.J. and Oletta; brother and sister, Derek and Hayden Mai; brothers Danny and Andy Christensen, and three sets of sisters, Ashley and Megan Murtha; Keirsten and Shelby Dunham; and Brooke and Lauren Farnsworth..

The addition of all the other members of the cast and crew should make this OCT production a true family affair.

“Rip Van Winkle” and “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” are set to open at 7:30 p.m. on Friday November 6 with additional performances that weekend on November 7 at 7:30 p.m. and November 8 at 2 p.m. A second weekend of performances will be presented on November 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m. with matinee performances scheduled for November 21 and 22 at 2 p.m. All performances will be presented at the Oswego Community Performing Arts Center located at on the Corner of West Third and Erie Streets in Oswego.

OCT would like to thank the Ancient Order of Hibernians for allowing them to rehearse “Rip Van Winkle” and “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” at their facility.

Tickets for the performances of the show are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for students. For reservations and more information call 315-342-5265 or 315-529-1009 or by email at oswegochildrenstheater@hotmail.com
