Sophie Kuc Karkut

Sophie Kuc Karkut, 89, of Florida, formerly of Fulton, passed away Tuesday.

Born in Fulton to the late John and Katherine Drozda Kuc, she had lived in the Ukraine until age 16 and then moved back to Fulton. Mrs. Karkut had lived in Florida since 1992. She retired from Nestle Co., Fulton in 1979 after more than 30 years. Mrs. Karkut was a communicant of Holy Family Church, Fulton. She enjoyed golfing. She was predeceased by her husband, M. Joseph Karkut, who died in 1991.

Surviving are her son, Joseph and his wife, Sandra of Fulton; a grandson, Thomas Karkut; a sister, Anna Zanewcyh; a brother, Jerry Kuc; three nieces.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, corners of South Third and Buffalo Sts., Fulton. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton. Calling hours will be 12 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fulton Polish Home Scholarship Fund, 153 West First St., Fulton, 13069.

    I’m sorry to hear about your mother. It seems our generation is experiencing the reality of losing our last parent. My mother is in St Luke’s in Oswego.
    I have fond memories of working with your mom when the house was sold. I’m so glad she had a chance to spend a good deal of time in Fl. I love it here, too.
