Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana Offering Outreach During SUNY Oswego Residency

OSWEGO — The internationally renowned dance troupe Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana will offer performances, workshops and master classes while visiting SUNY Oswego Nov. 4 and 5.

The main performance will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, in Tyler Hall’s Waterman Theatre. But the previous day will find the troupe dancing for, educating and meeting a variety of audiences.

Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana will present a free public lecture/demonstration during SUNY Oswego’s College Hour at 12:40 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, in Waterman Theatre. The event will be free and open to the public.

Three workshops available to the public from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 4 will take place:

- Members of the group will hold a dance workshop with the college’s Del Sarte dance troupe and the local dance community in the Lee Hall dance studio on campus.

- A flamenco guitar master class will take place in Tyler Art Gallery of Tyler Hall.

- A master dance class will unfold at the Community Folk Art Center, 805 E. Genesee St. in Syracuse.

Because of to limited space, advance registration is required for any of the three workshops by contacting Joyce Molinari at joyce.molinari@oswego.edu or 312-4581. The cost to participate is $15 per person (free for SUNY Oswego students).

The residency work is sponsored by the college’s Artswego Performing Arts Series, supported by New York State DanceForce, with funding from the New York State Council on the Arts Dance Program.

Tickets to the Nov. 5 evening performance cost $20 ($15 for seniors and children, $7 for SUNY Oswego students) and are available through Tyler box office at 312-2141 or http://tickets.oswego.edu. Parking is free in campus lots on evenings and weekends.

So, The Players plan to allow the audience to participate in the anniversary celebration by inviting patrons to attend a wine, and cheese, party before the curtain and sampling a anniversary cake at intermission.
