Cancer Services Program Seeks Bingo Nights

Nov 04, 2009 at 8:18 am

OSWEGO, NY – According to the American Cancer Society, did you know that in Oswego County, 13 individuals are diagnosed with cancer every week and 5 individuals will loose their battle to cancer weekly?

Oswego County Opportunities’ Cancer Services Program Partnership is inviting civic groups, churches, and other organizations who host Bingo nights to help join us in our fight against cancer.

The CSPP provides a wide range of free cancer screenings including breast exams, mammograms, pap and pelvic exams and colorectal cancer screenings for men and women aged 40 through 64 who are uninsured or underinsured.

I am looking to spread the word about the services offered through the CSPP and would like to visit Bingo nights throughout Oswego County to distribute information and educate the community on the types of screenings that are available and how they can benefit from taking advantage of this program.

As an extra incentive, all Bingo players who stop by for information while I am there can sign up for a free drawing to win a $50 Wal-Mart gift card.

Early detection is the best protection.

These cancer screenings save lives and there should be no reason for anyone to go unscreened.

I am looking forward to visiting as many Bingo nights as possible and spreading the word about the importance of receiving regular cancer screenings.

For more information on the CSPP, or to invite me to your Bingo night, please call 342-0888 est. 1455.
