The partnership between SUNY Oswego and Bishop’s Commons has connected college students and seniors, while enhancing physical fitness and quality of life of participants.

Dr. Seo and students have been visiting Bishop’s Commons on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons teaching various senior exercises, including chair exercises, elastic band exercises, stretches and low impact cardio exercises.

“These classes are a wonderful addition to our fitness program at Bishop’s Commons and the attendance and involvement of the residents is outstanding,” noted senior living coordinator Julie Chetney.

Residents of all abilities are able work at their own pace and level throughout the class, focusing on flexibility, balance and body toning.

“These exercises increase bone density, muscular strength and endurance, and senior’s psychological well-being and mood enhancement,” said Dr. Seo.

Bishop’s Commons Assistive Living Residence is a new choice for seniors offering a unique combination of attractive, affordable apartment homes and support services.
