The students’ grandparents and special friends were the guests of honor at Oswego County’s only Catholic school.

The annual event is designed to honor the grandparents and other special friends who help the school and students throughout the year, according to David Friedlander, principal.

Dennis Jerome, the Oswego City School District’s food services manager, came prepared.

It was the fourth year he has been helping out and ninth year over all for the event.

Jerome presented a repast fit for a king. The banquet included mashed potatoes, corn, stuffing, sweet potatoes and more at the start of the spread.

At the end of the line, he carved several turkeys and a couple of large hams.

It was a lot of work, he said, adding, “I’ve had an awful lot of help.”

“The kids have just been great,” he said. “The staff here has been wonderful. Everything is going smoothly.”

Despite the sumptuous feast – there was one everyday food that stood out.

A tray full of chicken nuggets was also popular fare among the students. Some of the younger students even shunned the hand-carved turkey and ham and opted for a pile of nuggets.

“This is our way of expressing our gratitude to the grandparents and all the others who are a big part of our family here at Trinity Catholic,” Friedlander said.
