Winter Wonderland Revealed at Oliver Paine Greenhouses

Nov 19, 2009 at 1:06 pm

A special ‘winter wonderland’ will be revealed Sunday, November 29th from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Oliver Paine Greenhouses’ Annual Poinsettia Open House, 125 South Granby Road, Fulton.

The toy soldier brigade will have the greenhouse looking especially festive for the children, and the child in all of us to experience. The 10-foot tall poinsettia tree will of course be filled with all of the vibrant poinsettia colors. “It’s fun to see many of our customers take their holiday photo in front of our tree-it’s become a holiday tradition. And remember, poinsettias are safe for everyone.” says Cindy Paine.

Dan Duggan plays his hammered dulcimer to entertain everyone throughout the day. You’re invited to enjoy refreshments too, while you stroll through the colorful isles of cyclamen, Christmas cactus, poinsettias, kissing balls, wreaths and more.

“You’ll want to check out of the new ‘gardeners gifts’ and ‘home décor items’ Diana and Cindy found on their buying trip—a variety of birds and bird house ornaments, pedestal wreath hangers, primitive colonial style décor, Christmas flags and more,” says Oliver Paine. For those who enjoy ‘making their own decorations and gifts’, Oliver Paine Greenhouses has Fun Shops scheduled throughout the season;

· Wednesday, December 2nd at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, December 5th at 9:00 a.m..: Create your own Holiday Balsam Fir Kissing Ball. You’ll learn how to transform a Styrofoam ball into a lovely holiday decoration for your porch, deck or patio…using fresh, fragrant balsam fir, festive decorations, ribbons and bows.

· Saturday, December 5th at 1:00 p.m..: Fashion your own Tree Topper with a gorgeous bow. Learn how to make your own tree topper, highlighted by a beautiful hand-tied bow with streamers.

· Saturday, December 12th at 9:00 a.m.: Make your very own Table Centerpiece. Welcome friends and family to your holiday table with a centerpiece of your creation, using fresh greens and holiday accents that say ‘I made it myself’.

Fun Shops last about 1 1/2 hours and include all materials and refreshments. Pre-registration is required so please call 592-2773 or stop by Oliver Paine Greenhouses at 125 South Granby Road, between Fulton and Baldwinsville, to sign up.

The Annual Poinsettia Open House at Oliver Paine Greenhouses on Sunday, November 29th is just the beginning of the Holiday Season. For more information, visit www.OliverPaineGreenhouses.com
