FULTON, NY – When it comes to the United Way’s Annual Campaign, the staff at Oswego County Opportunities realizes full well just how important the success of that campaign is to the hundreds of individuals and families that are served through OCO’s many human services programs.

Jo-Lyn Phillips, coordinator of Oswego County Opportunities’ in-house campaign for the United Way, accepts a pledge form in support of the United Way’s Annual Campaign from OCO Mental Hygiene Division Director, Patrick Waite.

“We see first-hand the positive impact that the United Way has on the lives of tens of thousands of people throughout Oswego County,” said Jo-Lyn Phillips, coordinator of OCO’s in-house campaign in support of the United Way. “We work hard to educate our staff and let them know that their support of the United Way makes a real difference in our community.”

Phillips said it takes approximately two months to complete OCO’s in-house campaign.

It is a busy time as she and Stephanie Langdon attend many staff meetings to talk with small work groups to reach each of the 635 staff members who work out of 50 different facilities.

“It’s important that we have the opportunity to meet with employees to let them know personally how important their donations to the United Way are and the impact they have on the quality of life in our county,” she said.

Phillips added that OCO’s campaign is progressing nicely and has already reached 50% of its goal.

She anticipates that when the campaign concludes in mid-December that once again OCO will reach its goal of raising more than $12,900 for the United Way, a figure that represents a 3% increase over last year.

“Year after year the employees of OCO have shown concern for their community and respect for the efforts of the United Way. By the time our campaign ends there is a good chance we will not only reach our goal, but also increase both our percentage of employee participation and our overall donations from last year. OCO employees always blow me away with the results of our campaign. They’re one of the most generous and benevolent staffs in the county! We are proud to be a partner agency with the United Way and strive to conduct as successful a campaign as possible to help support their efforts,” she said.

OCO, Inc is a private, non-profit agency that has been supporting communities throughout Oswego County since 1966 and touches the lives of more than people annually.
