More than 2700 miles and 200-plus inches of snow await snowmobilers in the Great Lakes Seaway Trail region of New York and Pennsylvania, according to the recently updated “Great Lakes Seaway Trail Snow-Cruising is Fresh!†Fact Sheet.
“This Great Lakes Seaway Trail resource list has been expanded to help snowmobilers in search of great riding, trails, maps, clubs, trail condition hotlines, lodging, food and state snowmobiling regulations,†says Seaway Trail, Inc. President & CEO Teresa Mitchell. “We are inviting people to plan their winter travel to enjoy our snowmobiling experience now.â€Â
The Great Lakes Seaway Trail is a 518-mile-long series of roads along the shoreline and is federally-designated as one of America’s Byways and a National Recreation Trail.
The “Great Lakes Seaway Trail Snow-Cruising is Fresh!†Fact Sheet notes that the 11-county shoreline region is renowned for the snow events created by cold “Lake Effect†winds moving across the warm freshwaters of the St. Lawrence River, Lake Ontario, Niagara River and Lake Erie in New York and Pennsylvania.
The resource list includes trail and trailhead descriptions, notes about how to register a snowmobile at a discounted fee in New York, where to find maps and more than 60 snowmobile clubs, photos, and interesting facts.
