Veronica “Vi” M. Pawlewitz

Veronica “Vi” M. Pawlewitz, 100, of Medford Road in Mattydale, died Friday at St. Camillus Health & Rehabilitation Center. Vi was a native of Solvay and resided in Mattydale since 1937. She was the daughter of the late Stanley and Victoria Kaleta.

Vi was a housekeeper at the Airport Inn, Syracuse between 1970-1989; prior to that she was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church and a member of their Altar Rosary Society. Vi was also a member of the Legion of Mary, the Salina Civic Seniors, and was a member of the Sunshine Committee.

She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Pawlewitz, Sr. in 1971.
Surviving are her daughter: Gloria (Charles) Owens of Manlius; four sons: Clarence (Shirley) of Liverpool, Leonard Jr. (Mary) of North Syracuse, Erwin of Solvay, and Joseph of Fulton; her sister: Dorothy Dantuono of Lakeland, NY; fifteen grandchildren; twenty seven great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home Inc., 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. A Prayer service will begin at the funeral home on Monday, 12:30 pm followed by a 1 pm Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Syracuse. The Curse of the Silverback, the Enchanted Forest/Water Safari’s newest water ride, which debuted in 2009, is expected to continue to draw visitors with its unique purple and black appeal and daring silverback theme.  Riders experience a 100 foot drop into a large 40-ft diameter bowl where they circle the bowl dropping out the middle into the splash pool below.
