Milford C. Benedict, 86, of Hannibal, passed away at home December 16, 2009.
Milford was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #832, Rochester. He had owned and operated Benedict Excavating in Granby from 1959 until 1978. He was a hard worker and enjoyed construction work.
Milford is survived by his wife of 64 years, Phyllis Pinney Benedict; a son Gary (Arlene) Benedict of Hannibal; a daughter, Denise (Gary) Broadwell of Hannibal; three brothers, Richard, Earl and Carl Benedict, all of Florida; grandchildren, Gary, Jr., Jim and Melissa Benedict, JoAnne and Jason Broadwell, all of Hannibal; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Foster Funeral Home, Hannibal. Funeral services are 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, 837 Cayuga St., Hannibal. Contributions in memory of Milford may be made to Friends of Oswego County Hospice, P.O. Box 102, Oswego, 13126.

The Curse of the Silverback, the Enchanted Forest/Water Safari’s newest water ride, which debuted in 2009, is expected to continue to draw visitors with its unique purple and black appeal and daring silverback theme. Riders experience a 100 foot drop into a large 40-ft diameter bowl where they circle the bowl dropping out the middle into the splash pool below.
