OCO To Host Women’s Health Fair June 4

FULTON, NY – OCO’s Cancer Services Program invites women of all ages to attend a health fair designed exclusively for them.

Scheduled for June 4, the event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at the Fulton YMCA, Route 3 West from 1 to 4 p.m.

Planning committee member Carolyn Handville, coordinator of OCO’s Cancer Services Program Partnership, said that the Women’s Health Fair is a must attend event that women will find fun and educational.

“We have put together a special day for women where they can come and not only get some spectacular information on available health resources in Oswego County, but also enjoy an afternoon of pampering.  There will even be several opportunities to win some fabulous prizes that have been donated by our participating vendors,” said Handville.

According to Handville, the fair will feature more than a dozen vendors offering a variety of free services and information.

Those scheduled to be a part of the fair include:

Integrative Health & Healing Spa-FREE Chair Massages, Mary Kay Cosmetics – free product sampling, BeautiControl – free sampling of lip treatments and instant manicure hand treatments, Avon – free sampling of the new Solar Advance, 45 SPF lotion that has received the Active Seal of Recommendation from the Skin Cancer Foundation, Young Living Essential Oils -Joy oil samples, free manicures/nail designs courtesy of Oswego County BOCES Cosmetology Students, Lia Sophia display with free product drawing and party bookings, acupuncture demonstrations with Caroline Robertson, free chiropractic posture analysis and a drawing for Chiroflow pillow with Dr McCaffery, cancer services program – scheduling free cancer screenings and distributing free colon cancer screening kits to eligible participants, facilitated enrollment representatives providing income guidelines for Medicaid and Family Health Plus eligibility and scheduling appointments for enrollments,  Oswego County Rural Health Network/Tobacco Coalition/Health Department – complimentary demonstrations of their new “How does Tobacco Look on You?” software,  Oswego Hospital – free blood pressure readings and information on breast health and smoking cessation, Oswego Hospital Radiology – free bone density screenings, Cornell Cooperative Extension – information on meal planning, healthy recipes and label reading, Arise – program materials and information on breast health,  American Cancer Society –program materials and informational resources for those diagnosed with cancer.

Relay for Life event information will also be available.

“I encourage women to not only join us at OCO’s Women’s Health Fair, but to bring a friend, a daughter, a neighbor. All women that attend will receive a complimentary gift from the Cancer Services Program. It will be a very special event that will be of interest to all women,” added Handville.
