County To Continue Meeting Tuesday

<p>A public hearing on the 2010 budget will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the County Legislature Chambers in Oswego.</p>The Oswego County Legislature will continue its meeting on Tuesday night, following a public hearing on the 2010 budget. Much debate is expected regarding the future of the Hannibal Transfer Station.



Proposed County Budget For 2010 Has No Tax Increase

The tax rate for the proposed 2010 county budget is $7.18 per $1,000 of assessed valuation; the same as it was this year and last year. It is the seventh consecutive budget where the tax rate has gone down or stayed the same. However, the county administrator warns – things could change in 2011.



City Pool Likely To Stay Afloat In 2010 Budget

<p>Gallagher Pool, in a photo courtesy of the city of Oswego.</p>Supporters of the city’s swimming pool made a big splash in front of the Common Council.In an attempt to save money in next year’s budget, councilors proposed closing the pool. More than 90 people attended a town hall meeting Thursday at the McCrobie Building. Included in that number were dozens of young children, many carrying signs that read: “Don’t be a fool – Don’t close our Pool,” “Swim Lessons Save Lives” and “Don’t Make Me Swim In The River” among other slogans. In an unofficial poll, the seven councilors said they’d support the pool in next year’s budget



Councilors To Reconsider Sewer Fee Hike
