The Oswego County Legislature will continue its meeting on Tuesday night, following a public hearing on the 2010 budget. Much debate is expected regarding the future of the Hannibal Transfer Station.
Supporters of the city’s swimming pool made a big splash in front of the Common Council.In an attempt to save money in next year’s budget, councilors proposed closing the pool. More than 90 people attended a town hall meeting Thursday at the McCrobie Building. Included in that number were dozens of young children, many carrying signs that read: “Don’t be a fool – Don’t close our Pool,” “Swim Lessons Save Lives” and “Don’t Make Me Swim In The River” among other slogans. In an unofficial poll, the seven councilors said they’d support the pool in next year’s budget
To balance the budget for 2010 otherwise would include laying off about 20 city workers.
