FULTON, NY – An Oswego County Grand Jury has decided that the Fulton teenager who was arrested in July after allegedly causing serious injuries to his 18-month-old daughter will face charges in Oswego County Court.
Robby J. Guppy, 17, of 604 E. Broadway, upstairs apartment, was arrested July 30 in connection with separate incidents that allegedly took place July 25 and July 26.
After his child would not stop crying, police said Guppy punched and slapped the toddler on her face and body, causing bruising, swelling and pain. Police said Guppy also intentionally burned the toddler with a cigarette, causing second-degree burns to her left hand and left ear lobe.
Oswego County Assistant District Attorney Mark Moody said that the grand jury reported Guppy’s case out late last week, returning charges of first-degree attempted assault, second-degree assault, two counts of third-degree assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.
Because the matter is a pending criminal case, Moody declined comment.
Guppy will appear in Oswego County Court for arraignment on the charges. As of Friday, no date was set for the appearance.
Guppy is represented by Syracuse-based defense attorney Michael J. Vavonese. He was released Aug. 18 on a $10,000 bail bond from the Oswego County Correctional Facility.
