Elizabeth J. Gomon, 79, 08/24/2008

OSWEGO, NY – Elizabeth J. Gomon, 79, a resident of 33 Turrill St., died on Aug. 24, 2008, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, after a brief illness.

Born in Oswego, she was the daughter the late Frank and Clara (Koska) Goodside.

She attended Oswego schools and was a graduate of Oswego High School.

Mrs. Gomon was a homemaker, but later in life had been employed with Loretto Heights for more than 15 years.

She was a member of the American Legion and for many years enjoyed collecting dolls and knickknacks.

Surviving are her husband of 19 years, William “Bud” Gomon; three sons, David (Wendy) Ballard and Thomas (Chris) Ballard both of Oswego and William (Linda) Ballard of Missouri; a daughter, Elizabeth (Terry Burnett) Ballard of Oswego; two stepdaughters, Sylvia Smith of Oswego and Grace Pritchard of South Carolina; two stepsons, James Gomon of Arizona and Robert Gomon of Oswego; a sister, Patricia (John) Ronco of New Jersey; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Myron O, Ballard; her son, Myron F. Ballard; three sisters, Frances Case, Margaret Batchelor and Alice Forbes; a brother, Kenneth Goodside; and a stepdaughter, Bertha Hansen.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. from St. Mary’s Church.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
