Barbara Ann Babcock Czerow

Barbara Ann Babcock Czerow, 89, passed away peacefully on March 23rd at the Oswego Hospital surrounded by her family

She was born September 25, 1934, the daughter of Myron and Ethel (Mitchelson) Babcock.  She graduated from Oswego High School and worked at the GLF after her high school graduation.

She was a member of the Oswego Center Methodist Church and in later years a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Barbara loved the outdoors.  She was happiest in the summer when she could be in the garden picking her strawberries, cutting her asparagus and gladiolus, and picking her blueberries and raspberries.  She loved baking pies and preserving her garden produce.  She enjoyed knitting, jigsaw puzzles and was a fan of the NY Yankees and SU basketball games.

She and her family spent many wonderful family vacations together as her children were growing up.  In later years she and her husband traveled on many naval reunion trips across the country.   She enjoyed bowling in her ladies league for many years.  She also did volunteer work throughout her life including being a Girl Scout leader, a Cub Scout den mother, a Minetto School Library volunteer, an OHS Marching Band Parents Assn. member, and being involved in many projects with her church.

She is survived by her husband Thomas of 69 years.  Her four children, Debra (Richard) Hogan,

Bonnie (Joseph) Perfetti, Timothy (Barbara) Czerow and Paul (Kristen) Czerow, all of Oswego.

She is also survived by her grandchildren Chad (Alice) Perfetti, Jenny Perfetti, Matthew (Ellen) Hogan, Adam Hogan, Nicholas Czerow, Merritt Czerow, and Kaitlyn Czerow.

She was predeceased by her siblings Grace Irene Myhill, Richard Babcock, Florence Woodcock, Beatrice Kerfein, Robert Babcock, Edward Babcock, and Myron Babcock Jr.

We wish to thank the Oswego Town Volunteer Fire Department, Dr. Marie Castillo-Alcasid and the staff at the Oswego Hospital for all of their compassion and care.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held in the Spring at Oswego Town Rural Cemetery.  There will be no calling hours.
