FULTON, NY – Going on its 12th year, the Great Eastern Whiteout will be held Feb. 11 and 12, at the Fulton War Memorial located on 609 West Broadway.
Each year hundreds of snowmobile racers, owners and spectators get together to take part in this event.
The vintage snowmobile show and races are hosted by the Fulton Area Snow Travelers, or better known as F.A.S.T.
The Great Eastern Whiteout is not only an event for snowmobile racing, but it is an opportunity to gather with friends and family. This weekend long event begins on Feb. 10, for those who would like to come for the Whiteout Warm-up party. The event will be Friday at RFH’s Restaurant, 1058 Co. Rte. 57, Phoenix, from 6 to 10 p.m.
On Saturday, a drag racing event will take place along with the antique and vintage sleds on display outside the War Memorial. Weather permitting, races will be held on Lake Neahtahwanta.
The antique and vintage sled show, along with the indoor and outdoor vendors will be on site.
“Ice Drags” will take place Saturday for $5 a race, along with the “Run What Ya Brung” race, where sign-ups begin at 9 a.m.
On Sunday, the 35-mile “Vintage Trail Ride” to breakfast and back to the War Memorial departs at 9 a.m. Following the trail ride, weather permitting, the 100-mile “Bun-Bun Enduro Run” race takes place on the lake.
The Great Eastern Whiteout is one of the largest single antique snowmobile shows in the northeast.
“Snowmobile lovers from 11 states and four Canadian provinces are expected to show their sleds or compete in the event. Our snowmobile clubs do a fantastic job of maintaining and grooming more than 380 miles of snowmobile trails. We welcome all the riders and spectators, and wish everyone a most successful Whiteout,” said Dave Turner, Director of the Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning.
“This non-profit event is held every year,” said Dan Dievendorf, spokesman for the event. “All money that is raised goes to the Children’s Hospital as well as B.O.C.E.S. scholarships.”
