Remember the area around the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Facility is off limits to boating. The restricted area stretches 1,000 yards offshore and extends from the Alcan plant to the Sunset Bay area along Lake Ontario, east of the city of Oswego.
Honey Foundation Holds BBQ Sunday To Raise Funds For Kids Fighting Cancer
The Honey Foundation will hold a barbecue chicken fundraiser Sunday, August 16 at the Volney Fire Department, Route 3 in Volney. Heather “Honey” Oney of Fulton died March 20, 2009, just a few days after her 16th birthday. She fought brain cancer and won, but lost a second battle against the disease.

Hannibal’s high school marching band has always led the fire department’s annual field days parade. Thursday night, the job fell to the Central New York Fire and Police Band. But the band, eliminated by budget cuts, marched anyway. They came to make a point.
