Oswego Hospital Breaks Ground On New Era In Healthcare For Community
Oswego Hospital has broken ground on what will be a vital transformation of healthcare in Oswego County. Construction on the new Emergency Room at the hospital will provide additional space, but more importantly, will improve customer service by adding technology and shortening wait times.

Fulton School Budget Ends Year With Unexpected Surplus
The Fulton City School District ended the 2008-2009 school year a half million dollars in the black thanks largely to a one-time windfall.
“Our goal every year is to stay under budget and we did,” said Superintendent Bill Lynch.
It’s the second year in a row that the district has spent less than it budgeted and the seventh in the last eight years that it spent less than it took in in revenues.

For more than 15 years Oswego County Opportunities’ Youth Emergency Services Program (YES!) has been providing support and encouragement to runaway and homeless youth in Oswego County. As the recipient of a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, OCO’s YES! Program is able to help even more youth in crisis.

French And Indian War Returns To Fort Ontario
The annual encampment of the French and Indian War will take place at Fort Ontario State Historic Site on Aug. 29 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Aug. 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The sights, sounds, and smells of camp and garrison life will greet visitors as they visit camps of British, French and Native American troops and warriors who fought each other on these ground in the 1750s.

With Aug. 20 being Italian Night at the market, Mary Plummer of Aunt Mary’s Italian Café will have delicious, homemade Italian food available for purchase at the chamber booth. Entertainment for the evening will feature the jazz sounds of E.S.P.

Stuff A Bus Program Benefits Hundreds Of County Students
In an effort to ensure every child is prepared for school, the United Way of Greater Oswego County held its annual Success By 6 “Stuff a Bus†campaign at 10 different bus locations around the county. The school supplies will now be divided among the nine districts in the coming days.
