Hannibal Historical Society Opens Museum

Jane Scruton, President of the Hannibal Historical Society is  shown with Terry M. Wilbur, Hannibal’s Oswego County Legislator and  Lowell Newvine, Hannibal Town and Village Historian on a recent Saturday  as they staffed the Historical Society’s temporary museum in the former  Cook’s Jewelers Building on the Village Square in Hannibal.  The museum  is open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and features articles,  posters and artifacts relating to Hannibal’s History.    On July 10, at 9  a.m., as part of its Sesquicentennial Celebration, the Village of  Hannibal plans to dig up a time capsule that has been buried in the  Village Square since 1960.  The contents of the capsule will be  displayed at the museum on Saturdays until August 21, when the present  contents will be buried, along with items reflecting 2010 Hannibal  History.  The museum is open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and features articles, posters and artifacts relating to Hannibal’s History.

County To Revisit Combating Water Chestnut Problem
