One thing not on the agenda for tonight’s Hannibal Board of Education meeting is the proposed budget for 2011-12. In this regular board meeting, board members will get a construction project update, act on tenure nominations and accept five retirements.
Board members approved a decision to appeal the state Supreme Court ruling last month that dismissed the district’s petition challenging the tax agreement with Nine Mile Point Unit I. The board also approved the proposed budget for 2011-2012. The budget proposal is $74, 744,748 and contains a zero percent tax levy increase.
Commemoration activities for the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 kicked off with the Oswego County War of 1812 Symposium on Saturday, April 2.
The free exhibit, featuring connections between local and global forested areas, supports the U.N. General Assembly’s declaration on behalf of forests, an effort that promotes sustainable management, conservation and responsible development of forests worldwide. Earth Day is Friday, April 22, this year.
The Parish area Relay For Life committee will celebrate “Paint the Town Purple Day” Saturday, April 30, with a variety of fundraisers and refreshments at the town gazebo on the corner of Rtes. 69 and 69A. The “Paint the Town Purple” event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
