Four times in the last year, Fulton city firefighters have been called to the Chateau West apartments just over the city line in Granby to help that town’s volunteers. Now, according to Mayor Ron Woodward, city firefighters are being called out of the city to help with accidents.
Enough is enough, said Woodward, who raised the possibility of quitting the county’s mutual aid system at a recent Common Council meeting.

What began as one girl’s quest to help feed families in need in Oswego County is starting to gain momentum and inspiring others. Earlier this month Christie Hoefer, a senior at Oswego High School launched her Pennies 4 Pantries drive to collect one million pennies in support of Catholic Charities of Oswego County’s food pantry.

Lakeside Artisans will feature Allen Bjorkman as the Artisan of the Month for October. Bjorkman’s exhibit will open on Oct. 1 and run through the 31st. It will include his latest work.
The Oswego Association of Business and Professional Women presented a $100 check to Leighton Elementary Home and School Association for the new playground planned.
Starting on Sept. 26, and continuing for the remainder of his term (through Dec. 31), the mayor will be changing his posted hours that he will be present in the mayor’s office to Monday 3 to 5 p.m. and Tuesday through Thursday 9 a.m. to noon, or by scheduled appointment.

BucFest is planned for Oct. 1 from 12:30 – 3:00 p.m., at the end of Joe Wilbur Field (rain location OHS gym) right after the homecoming parade.

Hundreds of readers, young and old, descended on the Oswego YMCA Armory over the weekend to celebrate “One World – Many Stories.” The Literacy Coalition of Oswego County hosted the free event. The goal of the Literacy Coalition of Oswego County is to empower the community to build literacy in a collaborative, inclusive and comprehensive manner.
