Canadian Marine Flare Destroyed
Some residents living near the lakeshore may have heard a loud noise the other night. Authorities reassure that it was nothing to be alarmed about A Canadian marine flare washed up on the lake shore recently. They called Fort Drum and their bomb squad came down and disposed of it.

Cortland Sinks Lakers Softball, 7-3
The Oswego State softball team (16-22) played error-free defense and outhit Cortland (35-6), but the Lakers came up short in a 7-3 loss to the Red Dragons in the first game of the SUNYAC Championships Thursday morning.

Half-Shire Historical Society Meeting Planned
On May 12, the society will be open all day. At noon our monthly lunch meeting will take place, discussion will center on the 2012 Oswego County Fair set up and Heritage Building activities. Following this meeting from 2-6 there will be a special research afternoon with area historians and volunteers on hand to assist patrons with family tree research.
