The meeting will be called to order at 5 p.m., but the board is expected to enter executive session for the purpose of legal discussion in regards to litigation, teacher tenure and a discussion relating to a specific employee. At approximately 6 p.m. the board will reconvene the public meeting.
The Hannibal Historical Society will be selling pewter Christmas tree ornaments from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on November 17 and 18 at the Festival of Trees being held at the Community Center on Oswego Street. Ornaments are $15 apiece.

On our recent trip to Mobile, John and I visited the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park and it turned out to be much more than we expected. Besides the battleship there is also the USS Drum submarine, 24 combat aircraft that were used during and since World War II, tanks, a Vietnam River Patrol Boat and more. The USS Alabama saw 37 months of active duty during World War II, earning her nine Battle Stars.

The appellate Court held that, as a matter of law, the evidence before the jury was legally insufficient to establish that Jones acted with the mental State of depraved indifference at the time he caused Erin Maxwell’s death. He is, however, guilty of second-degree manslaughter and will be returned to county court to be re-sentenced on that charge – maximum sentence of 5 to 15 years in state prison.
