Junior Girl Scout Plans Soccer Program for Children with Disabilities

Pictured are: Chetney with a group of children who are currently participaing in the "Doing it Our Way" basketball program. Junior Girl Scout Claudia Chetney wants all kids to enjoy the game of soccer as she has had the opportunity to do so for the past nine years. So, when the seventh grader was considering what she would do for her Girl Scout Silver Award, Chetney brainstormed on paper all the areas that she saw a need in her community and came up with helping kids with disabilities play the sports and it seemed only natural to pick the one she knew best.

St. John Fisher knocks off Laker men’s lacrosse team

The Oswego State men’s lacrosse team (6-6) fell behind early, and the Lakers were never able to completely erase their deficit in a 9-6 loss to St. John Fisher (9-4) Wednesday afternoon. Despite owning a 13-4 advantage on faceoffs, Oswego State managed just 16 shots on goal and went 0-for-6 in man-up situations.

Oswego Woman ‘Terrified’ For Sister’s Safety Following Bombings

michelle  with   daveOn Monday afternoon, the shock of the Boston Marathon bomb incident was felt all over the nation – including Oswego, NY. Three people were confirmed dead; more than 100 were injured, some very seriously. Port City resident Jennifer Bradshaw’s sister, Michelle Navarroli, had been standing at the finish line, waiting for her fiancé to finish the race. When reports of a bombing at the marathon were broadcast Monday afternoon, Michelle’s family was terrified.
