The Oswego County Department of Social Services facility at 100 Spring St. will officially re-open to the public at 8:30 a.m. April 29. The Mexico office building was closed in December for asbestos abatement and building repairs. Since then, services have been provided at the former Cayuga Community College facility on state Route 3, Fulton.
The Oswego Lions Club with host the second annual Rivers Edge “handmade” Craft Show on June 9. This year, the event will take place in a more spacious location right on the river’s edge, West Liner Park, in Oswego. Hours for the craft show will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Oswego’s Annual Independence Celebration will be marking 50 years of family, fun and fireworks this summer. To celebrate this golden anniversary in style, the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce’s Parade Committee is working on some special attractions for the parade on July 7.

To qualify for the All-Academic Team, a student must be varsity athlete who has completed the entire season and earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.3 for the semester in which they competed. Distin, who is majoring in Biology, was a member of the fall 2012 women’s soccer team.

State Senator Patty Ritchie honored 17 Central and Northern New York women at her 48th Senate District “Women of Distinction” ceremony, held in Watertown on Thursday. Those recognized were nominated by friends, family and community leaders in Oswego, St. Lawrence and Jefferson counties.
On May 18, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Faith United Church, located next to the middle school at 12 Mark Fitzgibbons Drive, will host its annual plant and yard sale. Indoor and outdoor plants will be sold on the church lawn.
