Volney Students Recognized For Being “On-A-Roll”

Volney Elementary School Principal Jeff Hendrickson recognized the following students for demonstrating the March character virtue of the month, perseverance.
The Literacy Coalition of Oswego County’s annual Children’s Book Drive received some welcome support recently when the Wal-Mart Super Center, Route 3 in Granby, announced that it would be hosting a book drive on April 27. Wal-Mart employees will be accepting donations of new and gently used books with titles of interest to toddlers through teens.
Assemblyman Will Barclay will host an American Red Cross blood drive on May 3 at the Elks Lodge in Oswego. “The Red Cross does so much good in providing blood for emergency rooms and hospitals throughout our region, which saves lives every day. I’m happy to dedicate a day to help the local chapter find more donors,” said Barclay.
State Senator Patty Ritchie will honor 16 Central and Northern New York women who were nominated for the New York State Senate’s “Women of Distinction” program at a special event, taking place in Watertown on Thursday at the Flower Memorial Library at 6 p.m.
Softball Registrations for the 2013 Summer Season are now being accepted at the City Clerk’s office in the Municipal Building, Fulton. Rosters, schedules and rules are also available at this location. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The BOCES Distance Learning Program, in conjunction with Onondaga Community College, is offering a course on Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting on April 15 in the Distance Learning Rooms at Paul V. Moore High School and in Birdlebough High School.
