Sights, sounds to reign in ‘Once Upon a Mattress’

The SUNY Oswego theatre and music departments' production of "Once Upon a Mattress" will feature what one cast member calls "luxurious" costumes of the era, including those of Daniel Stalter as Sir Harry, left, and Sierra Meisser as Lady Larken. The comic spinoff of the fairytale "The Princess and the Pea" will preview April 18, and run April 19, 20 and 27, with a finale April 28.“Once Upon a Mattress” will aim to be a treat for eyes and ears when it takes the stage at SUNY Oswego’s Waterman Theatre starting with a preview at 8 p.m. April 18. The college’s theatre and music departments will present the comic tale at 8 p.m. April 19, 20 and 27, with a concluding matinee at 2 p.m. April 28.

The InterContinental Hotel Hua HinI am always amazed at how easy it is to navigate the world. We arrived in Thailand from Myanmar and stayed at the Amari Don Maung Airport Hotel for the night. We could walk to from the airport via a overhead walkway. In the morning, after a great breakfast, our driver from Sawadee-Travel picked us up for the three-hour drive south of Bangkok to Hua Hin.

Quest session to air findings on Fallbrook dam removal’s impacts

At Quest on April 17, SUNY Oswego junior geology and mathematics major Benjamin Valentino will present findings he and five fellow students made studying groundwater levels in the aquifer at the college's Fallbrook Recreation Center after the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service removed a dam. Here, Valentino talks at the 2012 Quest symposium about another aquifer study at Rice Creek.Benjamin Valentino, following the lead of his parents, uncle and brother in geology, will talk about impact on the Fallbrook aquifer of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s $62,000 habitat restoration project, intended to provide six miles of passage for brook trout and
American eel along Rice Creek.
