The Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County and the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau will host a Family Day of Play at Camp Hollis on April 28 from noon to 4 p.m. Open to all youth and their families, the Family Day of Play is free of charge and will provide an opportunity for children and adults to interact with each other and enjoy a day of fun, play and learning.
The Friends of History In Fulton will hold its first chicken barbecue for 2013 on May 5 at the pavilion at Bull Head Point, Route 3 West. Serving will begin at 11:30 a.m. until sold out.
With preparations completed on filming of the epic 2012 “The Run,” Team E Media is excited to announce the Sportsman Channel, reaching into 50 million homes, as the official national network for the mini-series. “The Run” will debut on the Sportsman Channel April 29 and run through the end of June 2013.
On March 24 Chet and Gretchen Sayer attended the second year birthday party for Briar Paterson at her grandparents, Jim and Connie Shovlin Sayer’s home in Oneida. Briar is the daughter of Sean and Kara (Shovlin) Paterson. On March 31, the Sayer family was at Kara’s for Easter dinner.
Assemblyman Will Barclay tonight (April 5) argued against the New York SAFE Act at Syracuse University. He and John Lott, a political commentator and author of “More Guns, Less Crime,” questioned the law’s effectiveness at increasing public safety.
Two search warrants that were carried out in the city of Oswego led to the recovery of crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia and U.S. currency. A third search warrant was performed at a residence in the city of Fulton and resulted in the recovery of approximately 10 grams of both powder and crack cocaine.
Moving into the final days of preparation, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is set to run for two performances only, April 12 at 7pm and April 13 at 2 p.m. with a final dress rehearsal preview April 11 at 7 p.m. The all youth production is produced by CNY Arts Center as part of their Kids Onstage theatre program for youth ages 7-15.
A great afternoon is lined up for the NRG Oswego Harbor Power “Lakeview Stage” in Breitbeck Park on Sunday July 28, as the 26th version of the festival comes to a close. Closing out the day on the NRG Lakeview Stage will be “Real Diamond,” which is a professional band, dedicated to the faithful re-creation of the live Neil Diamond experience.
Emily is in the Medical Illustration – BFA program in RIT’s College of Imaging Arts and Sciences and is a 2013 graduate of Oswego High School. She has been awarded an RIT Computing Medal Scholarship.
The Marines Corps League presented several awards on Friday at the Fulton Mayor’s Office in order to thank community members for supporting the League’s mission over past year, giving back and servicing the community.
