Oswego County Opportunities recently honored its Youth 4 Youth Peer Leaders Group with the agency’s Howard Wilcox Volunteer of the Year Award. Presented annually, OCO’s Howard Wilcox Volunteer of the Year Award is given to a volunteer who goes above and beyond in offering their time and talents to an OCO program.
State Senator Patty Ritchie honored 29 veterans from across Central and Northern New York at a special ceremony held Friday at Fort Drum’s USO. The veterans were nominated for induction into the New York State Senate “Veterans Hall of Fame” by family, friends, co-workers and comrades-in-arms for their military service to our nation, and their continuing work and involvement in causes that benefit and improve our local communities.
The Fulton City School District recognizes that good attendance habits including arriving on time and prepared are critical to school success and also set the foundation for future success in college or a career. The Oswego Children’s Theater’s latest production, an adaptation of the children’s classic, “Winnie the Pooh” opens Friday, May 17, at the New Haven Congregational Church. The show features a cast of area youth, colorful costumes, set, an easily followed story, and a short run time, specifically designed to appeal to younger children.

This was the Lazers fifth straight championship title and its 70th straight win, breaking the all-time record by any level college lacrosse team of most consecutive wins.
A motorcycle operated by Robert E. Gale, 65, of Florida, collided with a car in Hastings. An investigation has led to the driver of the car being ticketed, sheriff’s deputies said.

The Oswego County Historical Society will host the second lecture of the season on May 19. Guest lecturer Dr. Terrence Hammill will present a program entitled “The History of Oswego’s Port Authority.” A professor emeritus of SUNY Oswego and twice mayor of the city of Oswego, Dr. Hammill is the currently the chairman of the board of the Port of Oswego Authority.
