The sprawling red brick building was built in 1827 as The Genesee County Poor Farm and in the 1950s it was a county home and infirmary. For a short time it was an antique mall. Over the years people reported strange occurrences of the paranormal kind.

Flag Day Observed At Historic Fort Ontario

Members of the military interpretive unit of the Continental Arms Collectors Association, representing the 1st New York Regiment of 1782, prepare to present the American Flag.The British Flag was lowered and the American Flag was raised over Fort Ontario on Friday as a large audience, mostly elementary students, learned about the history of the flag and the fort. A large crowd of mostly elementary students and their teachers from around the county and some re-enactors depicting different eras, filled the parade grounds to witness the Flag Day celebration.

“You coax the blues right out of the horn … you charm the husk right off of the corn….” Ah, the strains of one of Broadway’s most loved musicals, “Mame,” will be flowing through the Frances Marion Brown theatre, beginning July 5 for a two-weekend run. Stage director Inez Manor Parker and music director Abel Searor are deep in rehearsals with their stellar cast of this marvelous piece of nostalgia for the pleasure of local audiences.
