Sandra Scott Travels: Walk across the Hudson and explore the countryside

Walkway Over the Hudson Talk about making a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. Whoever came up with the idea to turn an old railroad bridge over the Hudson River into a walkway gets an “Atta’ Boy.” The railroad bridge was built in 1889 and was in service until 1974. Through the cooperation of public and private groups, the Walkway Over the Hudson Historic Park opened in 2009 making it the longest footbridge in the world.

Teachers Learning About Great Lakes

A teacher from Fulton is among a crew of 15 educators taking a voyage aboard a 180-foot floating classroom this week. New York Sea Grant is hosting 15 teachers and non-formal environmental educators for a week-long, hands-on learning cruise aboard the federal research vessel the Lake Guardian. This fall, they will share what they’ve learned with their students.

Oswego Summer Sunset Concert Series to Feature the Oswego City Band

The fourth concert in the Oswego Summer Sunset Concert Series will be held July 17 at 7:30 p.m. at Breitbeck Park. These concerts are provided free to the public by the city of Oswego and the Musicians Union of Oswego County. The Concert Band, under the direction of Trevor Jorgensen, will be performing this week.
