On July 23 at 7 p.m. the Divisi Children’s Choir of Valencia, Spain, will be performing at the Fulton Alliance Church a variety of sacred and secular music. This choir of “voces blancas” has performed around the world. Two of the choralists are daughters of a former Fulton resident, Renee Rice.
“Fishing Behind the Lines” with Don Meissner is a 13-part series produced by WPBS-DT and explores more than just fishing and celebrating our region, but also highlights the most basic forms of humanity and how we connect to people through recreation.
Plans are full speed ahead for the July 17 appearance of Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne at the Fulton Speedway. The racing on the Fulton Speedway “High Banks” will be as hot as the July weather as Tony Stewart will strap into his Chevrolet/Bass Pro Shops/No.14/ 410 Sprint Car and take on the best of the All-Star Sprints.

Life’s best things are free! Keeping that thought in mind, Mexico Point Park presents “A Lakeside Concert and Fireworks” on July 14 starting at 6 p.m. Admission is free. Enjoy the music of Mexico Summer Jazz Ensemble and Vocal Jazz Choir, Mexico Brass Band and the fiddling Futures.
Young people from Oswego County left on Sunday for the New York State Sheriffs’ Institute 2013 Summer Camp. Now in its 37th year of operation, the camp will accommodate more than 900 boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 12 from across New York State this summer. The campers attend at no charge.
The Oswego County Office for the Aging will distribute farmers’ market coupon booklets again this year. The booklets are valued at $20. All persons aged 60 and over whose gross income is at or below 185 percent of federal poverty guidelines are eligible to participate in the program.
Two teams of Port City Roller Derby skaters will battle for pride, bragging rights and crowd support during their Naughty-Cal Catastrophe bout on July 20 in Crisafulli Rink. Doors will open at 5 p.m. with a 6 p.m. whistle for the third home bout in the league’s third season.
Volunteers, river guides, and members of local environmental organizations will gather July 13, at the Pine Grove Boat Launch near Selkirk Shores State Park for a community water chestnut pull on the Salmon River Estuary. Volunteers may ride in a driftboat with members of the Oswego County River Guides Association, or bring their own canoes and kayaks.
