Oswego Head Start Pre-K thanked members of the Fort Ontario staff for their donation of crayons and sidewalk chalk. The children and teachers visited the fort staff to say thank you in person.

Aerial Spraying Completed in Oswego County
Aerial spraying of the Toad Harbor / Big Bay Swamp area near the north shore of Oneida Lake was completed last night, Thursday, September 19. The area sprayed included about 10,000 acres within these boundaries: U.S. Route 11 in Central Square to the west, NYS Route 49 to the north, up to but not including the village of Constantia to the east; and the shoreline of Oneida Lake to the south.

Buc Golfers Win Two More
The Oswego High School golf team won two more matches this week, running their record to 7-5 on the season. With five matches left in 2013 (four of them home), the Bucs appear to be in great form heading into sectional play in two weeks.

BucFest 2013 Set September 28 at Wilber Field
The Oswego Buccaneer Boosters have planned its biggest and most exciting “BucFest” yet, to celebrate Homecoming 2013 and kick off the Buccaneers’ varsity home football game against Fulton High School. In addition to the festival, the Buccaneer Boosters are promoting a “Buccaneer Blue Week” throughout Oswego from September 21 – 28.

Oswego School Board Meets at Oswego High School on September 24
The Oswego City School District Board of Education will conduct its regular meeting on September 24 at Oswego High School’s Anthony J. Murabito Media Center. The public session is expected to reconvene at 6 p.m.

Oswego Hospital Holds Yearly Decontamination Drill
Oswego Hospital staff members practiced for a disaster they hope will never occur. Some 40 hospital employees wore protective suits as they hosed down victims exposed to a hazardous substance in a special tent who were then triaged outside the hospital’s emergency entrance on September 19.
