With new facilities, Oswego becomes Global Lab destination
When SUNY Oswego began developing its Global Laboratory network of partnerships five years ago, one goal was to give its science students access to leading scientists and facilities around the world. With the opening of its new science buildings this fall, Oswego takes its place in the network as a destination for international scientists and students.

Drivers Look to Cash In at Oswego Kartway’s Fall Frenzy 150
The most unique event in Oswego Kartway’s history will take place this Friday with the running of the RJ Kart Sales Fall Frenzy 150. A total of 150-laps of feature action will take place between the evening’s two highlighted divisions, Stock Heavy Flathead and Clone Heavy.
Chicken Barbecue Fundraiser To Benefit Pratt House Museum
The Friends of History In Fulton, N. Y., Inc., will hold a chicken barbecue at the Pavilion on Bullhead Point, Route 3 West, on October 6 from 11:30 a.m. until sold out. The chicken is prepared by Fricken Chicken and will consist of half a chicken, salt potatoes, macaroni salad, roll and brownie. Eat in or take out.
Oswego Council Seeks To Improve Fishing
The conversation continued Monday as to how to make Oswego friendlier for those who want to fish the Oswego River. The council president is trying to facilitate a meeting between city officials and representatives from Brookfield to discuss the situation.
Summer 2013 Was Rather ‘So-So’
The average temperature for summer was just 0.4-degree warmer than normal. Total precipitation was 3.11 inches above average, thanks to a wet June. This summer was the coolest since it was 66.3 degrees in 2009, according to Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service. The last three have been in the 70s.
We live in an Authoritarian Regime
We’ve been hearing the word “regime” in the news quite a bit lately and I decided to look it up. I was shocked when I saw the definition because it sounded oddly familiar. Here is what it said: “Authoritarian regime” – a government that concentrates political power in an authority not responsible to the people.

Oswego County Postpones Aerial Spraying Tonight
The Oswego County Health Department has postponed its plans to spray the Toad Harbor / Big Bay Swamp area today (Sept. 16) due to inclement weather. The department is closely monitoring the forecast and will make the decision to spray as weather conditions change.
