The Mount Adnah Preservation Foundation wants to remind the public that memorial bricks can still be installed this fall in the Memorial Walkway at the Case memorial Chapel garden site in Mount Adnah Cemetery, Fulton. Many people have already had bricks placed in this brick walkway as a memorial to their loved ones.
Parents of Special Children, Inc. again hosted its annual barbecue at Douglaston Manor in Pulaski recently. This is the fourth annual backyard barbecue hosted by the Barclay family and has become a tradition for many area families who benefit from services provided by Parents of Special Children, Inc., a local service and social network organization for families that have children with special needs.
Through the month of August, the Northeastern Midget Association has featured speed – record lap times at Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY, Waterford Speedbowl and Riverside Speedway in Groveton, MA. Saturday, Sept. 14, NEMA returns to the citadel of speed – Oswego Speedway. Jim Miller’s 16.94 lap, set en route to victory last year, will be the objective. The NEMA Lites will also be returning to the five-eighths oval.
The city of Oswego Department of Public Works Water maintenance personnel will be performing preventative maintenance flushing of the water distribution system on the eastside of the city starting September 23. The affected area will be south of State Route 104E to East Utica Street and from East First Street to the eastern city limits, starting at East First and Bridge streets.
Members of the sharing and caring breast cancer support group will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. September 17 in the community room of Oswego Health’s Fulton Medical Center. Community members diagnosed with breast cancer can be guided through their journey of treatment by members of the support group. The local support group meets the third Tuesday of the month.
Students from the SUNY Oswego Adopt-A-Grandparent Program made an introductory meeting with residents at St. Luke Health Services to get acquainted and to plan activities together for the coming year. The students and residents will be meeting weekly during the semester, to share time together while undertaking various projects
The Lady Bucs swim team had an outstanding meet with Mexico to start their dual meet schedule. Oswego scored a 102-77 victory over the visiting Tigers as the Bucs won 11 of 12 events. The night was capped off with a pool record breaking performance as the 400 freestyle relay team shattered a 15-year old record.
