The Oswego Rotary Club hosted Gregory Callen, founder of Move Along Inc. and executive director Jeff Wright at a recent meeting. Callen spoke about his spinal cord injury in 2005 and his desire to assist others in finding resources to enable them to gain confidence and strength.
Her project, “Saving Families,” aims at providing assistance to those in need. Everything is strictly donation based. All donations go from sponsors straight to families in need, she explained.
This Saturday night the 110-member Oswego High School Marching Buccaneers will debut the “Amelia Earhart: The Legacy of Courage” as the New York State Field Band Conference Association season commences. The Marching Bucs performed their new show this past Wednesday evening before family, friends and fellow students. Band Director Scott Ciesla is ready to take his band to East Syracuse-Minoa this Saturday for a show that begins at 6 p.m.
The city of Oswego has been required to separate the “Combined Sewer System” in certain portions of the west side of the city, as mandated in a Consent Decree with the Federal Environmental Protection Agency and New York Department of Environmental Conservation. Today (Sept. 5), between the hours of 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., while this work was ongoing, the city’s water system lost pressure due to the construction work associated with the Consent Decree. The city of Oswego is, therefore, issuing a BOIL WATER ADVISORY
The Minetto United Methodist Church will host a free dinner on September 22. Serving will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The menu will be macaroni and cheese, ham, vegetable and dessert. Donations are not expected but will be accepted.
SUNY Oswego’s 27th annual ALANA Student Leadership Conference will launch Sept. 21, with a multicultural extravaganza — the popular fashion show — before moving on to the Unity Peace Walk, alumni panels, workshops, a banquet and more.
Incoming kindergarteners at Fairley Elementary recently had the opportunity to tour the building and eat ice-cream with their classmates, all before school started.
Debra Jean (Snyder) Baum, 53, of Oswego passed away Wednesday evening Sept. 4, 2013, at Upstate Medical University Hospital, Syracuse, after a long illness.
